Kenyan DJ and producer Blinky Bill has become the first artist to be signed by Temple Management East Africa.

“I have been working for a long time on my own music and it’s really good to have a team that believes in me and the work that I do,” Blinky Bill, whose real name is Bill Sellanga, said. “I am working on my album right now and it’s going to be lit and it’s really nice to be working with a team that will ensure that the album goes all the way to the top.”
Before embarking on a solo career, Blinky Bill was a founding member of one of Kenya’s first electro-pop bands, Just A Band (JAB), with which he released the EP We Cut Keys While You Wait before embarking a solo career.
The signing took place at the headquarters of the Temple Management East Africa in Nairobi this week.
“Blinky Bill is our first signing because he is one of the most creative artists on this continent,” Temple Management East Africa managing director Troy White said.
“This brother’s mind and thought process and his music is the kind that can touch the world. From the first time I met Blinky, I wanted to work with him. His mind is where my mind is and our minds are where Temple East Africa and Temple Africa is at.”
Temple Management is expected to sign more East African talent in the coming weeks, it said. Blinky Bill joins a number of top African artist signed to Temple Management including Iyanya, DJ Jimmy Jatt and fellow Kenyan Khaligraph Jones.
The Nigerian company, which officially launched its Kenya office at the beginning of the month, is also involved in event management and represents individuals from the sports, media and arts fraternities.
“Temple East Africa is here to turn this whole entertainment business upside down and create opportunities for our artists and do things that people have never seen before,” White said. “The new talent, as well as established artists that we are signing, we will provide them with opportunities and build their brands to international standards.”
