Theatre in the Park to conclude MIAL Zim series with Mbeu concert
Rooftop Promotions’ Theatre in the Park, in partnership with the Music in Africa Foundation, will bring to the stage Mbeu & The Mhodzi Tribe band on 11 December from 6.30pm CAT.
This will be the third and final digital concert of Rooftop Promotions’ Music in Africa Live series, which began in October with three Zimbabwean artists selected to perform on the platform.
The show is free to view and will be streamed on Theatre in the Park, Harare’s Facebook page.
“We are excited to be part of this programme and having been selected to be the final act means we must bring our A game to the stage,” Mbeu band manager Eugene Museredza said. “We assure our loyal fans and new viewers an electrifying performance.”
Theatre in the Park producer Daves Guzha said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better artist to do the honours of closing this rewarding Music in Africa Live concert. Mbeu is arguably Zimbabwe’s most gifted and fastest rising star.”
Rooftop Promotions’ Music in Africa Live series opened with a performance by the ‘Princess of Mbira’ Hope Masike on 30 October. The second artist to perform was Bulawayo-based jazz and gospel star Vuyo Brown on 20 of November.
The programme in Harare was launched with the support of the Music In Africa Live (MIAL) project, which assists musicians and the industry at large to navigate the challenges and new realities introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Covering all African countries, MIAL offers financial support to operators, to enable them to create high-quality productions and promote, market and showcase their content to a wider global audience – primarily via digital means.
About Music In Africa Live
Thousands of African musicians have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has occasioned unprecedented lockdowns and restrictions across the continent. African musicians and professionals traditionally make a living from live performances, and now they find themselves in extreme difficulty.
The Music In Africa Live project is one of a number of new projects that the Music In Africa Foundation has introduced in 2020 to support music professionals in Africa.
The project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung and Goethe-Institut.
