Uganda’s Sheebah Karungi to launch debut album
Sheebah Karungi, Uganda’s afro-pop and dancehall singer, is set to launch her debut album, Nkwatako, on 2 December at Hotel Africana.
The 15- track album follows on from the artists commercially successful EP Ice Cream which she released in 2014. Her launch at the Hotel Africana will be followed by two other major concerts that will be staged on 3 December at Satelite Beach in Mukono and 4 December at the Freedom City Mall.
Popularly known as Sheebah, Karungi emerged on the music scene in 2010 with the single ‘Kunyenyenza’ that was produced by Washington with writing credit from fellow Ugandan singer Cindy. Sheebah joined the Obsessions singing group in 2007 where she got exposed and experienced before launching her solo career. With passion and persistence, Sheebah has worked hard over the years to become one of Ugandans renowned bankable female dancehall artist.
The artiste made her debut performance at the Bayimba International Music Festival in 2015 with songs like ‘Ice Cream’, ‘Twesaana’, ‘Love hater’, ‘Mundongo’ and many more. Later that year, she was named the Best Female Artist for the year 2014-2015 at Uganda’s HiPipo Music Awards. At her official launch on 2 December, other artists including King Saha, Roden Y, Iryn Namubiru, Desire Luzinda and many others will join Sheebah.
Tickets to the concert on 2 December cost UGX 20000 ($5.54) for ordinary while VIP cost UGX 50000 ($13.84).
