Voting opens for Groove Awards Kenya
Kenyans can now vote for their favourite gospel musicians, songs and videos ahead of the 13th edition of the Groove Awards, which take place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi on 24 June.
Voting was officially opened today and the public has until midnight on 23 June to vote for their favourite categories via the Groove Awards official website.
Leading the pack with seven nominations is Jabidii who was nominated in the Song of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Collabo of the Year and Dance Style/Song of the Year. He was nominated for two awards in the Teens' Choice Song of the Year cateogry.
Following Jabidii with six nominations is Gloria Muliro who was nominated twice for the Praise and Worship Song of the Year Award as well as in the Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Collabo of the Year and Western Counties Song of the Year categories.
The awards are sponsored by telco Safaricom whose acting director, Charles Kare, said the company was keen to support the Kenyan gospel industry.
“We are truly honoured to be in a position to recognise and celebrate today’s talented artists and their contribution to the growth of the gospel music industry,” he said.
“The theme of this year’s awards show is, Rebuild, Restore and Reclaim. It encourages a spirit of togetherness highlighting the importance of all in working towards the end goal of shaping culture.”
