Voting opens for UK's 2021 Songlines Music Awards
The public can now vote for their favourite musicians ahead of the 2021 Songlines Music Awards in the UK.
Now in its 14th edition, the global awards recognise the top albums released in 2020 in the Best Artist and Best Group categories. Some of the African musicians nominated for the awards include Siti Muharam (Tanzania), Sidi Touré (Mali), Santrofi (Ghana), and Senegalese artists Kadialy Kouyate and Guiss Guiss Bou Bess.
Voters can pick their favourite artists acts here. The magazine will automatically enter voters into a draw for a chance to win tickets to WOMAD at Charlton Park in Malmesbury, UK, from 22 to 25 July.
The voting deadline is 1 February 2021 (2am CAT).
Voting terms and conditions
- Only one vote for each category per person. Voters are allowed to vote in the Best Artist and Best Group categories.
- Managers, promoters and record companies or anyone who has a professional interest in a particular artist or group are not allowed to vote for them.
- Songlines reserves the right to disqualify votes if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred or if it considers there has been any attempt to rig the voting.
- Songlines and/or its suppliers, cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote being lost or not correctly registered or recorded.
- Songlines reserves the right to discount any votes which it judges to be made outside the rules of the contest and to disqualify an artist for whom such votes are cast.
- Voters will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them by casting a vote.
- Songlines’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Songlines is a world music magazine based in the UK. Apart from its online offering, the magazine is published eight times a year and contains CD reviews, artist interviews, guides to particular world music traditions, concert and festival listings, and travel stories.
The 2020 edition was streamed live via YouTube on 13 December. Some of the winners included Bassekou Kouyaté (Mali), Blick Bassy (Cameroon).
