Watch King 98's Kachiri featuring Diamond Platnumz
Zimbabwean rapper King 98 has featured Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz on his song and video ‘Kachiri’.
The song is named after Tanzania’s famous sensual dance Kachiri, which is regularly performed by local women. ‘Kachiri’ was produced by Tanzanian artist S2kizzy who has also worked with such artists as Rayvanny, Billnass, Khaligraph Jones and King Kaka. The video for the song was shot in Tanzania in February and directed by Kenny.
King 98 told Music In Africa that he featured Diamond Platnumz in an effort to gain international exposure and tap into the East African scene.
"Working with Diamond means that I'm now among the elite in Africa as I would love to be an African Giant like him," he said. "I met Diamond when I went to Tanzania earlier in the year. We bonded for a bit before we made the song. He is a very talented artist, and I chose to work with him because he understands my vision, which is to push my sound in East Africa."
Asked about his contribution on Zimbabwe's hip hop scene, he said: "I see myself pushing the genre across Africa and beyond, and I do this through collaborations with top African acts across all genres. This sets me apart from other hip hop artists."
King 98’s collaboration with Diamond Platnumz follows his last year’s joint with Nasty C (South Africa) and Zlatan (Nigeria) on ‘Wacko’. He has also collaborated with Davido and Burna Boy.
