SA: Venom and Shishiliza drop new love anthem weSthandwa
South African amapiano duo Venom & Shishiliza, in collaboration with Yumbs, have released their latest single, ‘weSthandwa’, featuring Blxckie, 031Choppa, and Shannon.
The track, now available(link is external) on all digital platforms, continues the duo’s tradition of releasing love-inspired songs every Valentine’s season.
Following the success of their 2023 romantic single ‘Flight Ya Hoseng’, Venom & Shishiliza remain committed to delivering resonant music. Their journey into the spotlight began with ‘Sondela’, a platinum-selling hit released in August 2022, which featured Yumbs, Raspy, Blxckie, Tshego, and the late Riky Rick. The song’s popularity was amplified by viral TikTok trends, solidifying their signature sound within the industry.
With ‘weSthandwa’, the duo explore new sonic territory, blending elements of Afro-pop and hip hop while maintaining their signature fusion of amapiano, R&B, and other genres. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, they explained that love was at the heart of the project. “Every year, around Valentine’s Day, we release a track for those in love, those healing from heartbreak, and those searching for love,” they said.
Blxckie brings his signature hip hop flair to the track, while 031Choppa and Shannon contribute raw and emotive vocals that add depth to its heartfelt lyrics. Described as a musical love letter, ‘weSthandwa’ celebrates deep affection and appreciation for a partner, creating a track that is both engaging and relatable.
Venom & Shishiliza emphasised their commitment to creative exploration, explaining that they refuse to be confined to a single genre. “Experimenting with different sounds is what excites us. Collaboration is a big part of our process, and blending styles allows us to craft something truly unique.”
