Zim: Deadline looms for National Arts Merit Awards 2022 entries
Zimbabwean stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) – including artists, groups. production houses, studios, galleries, organisations and associations – have until 30 November to submit entries for the 20th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMAs), which will take place in February 2022.
Criteria
- Only artworks published in the past two years covering the period from 1 December 2019 to 30 November 2021 will be considered.
- Only Zimbabwean citizens or those with Zimbabwean resident status can enter their works.
Interested creatives can submit their entries here.
The submission deadline is 30 November.
Entry forms can also be downloaded via the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) website and submitted at any of the following offices:
- NACZ Head Office in Mount Pleasant in Harare.
- Murewa Culture Centre.
- National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare, Bulawayo and Mutare.
- NACZ provincial offices in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Gweru, Masvingo, Lupane, Gwanda, Bindura Chinhoyi and Marondera.
Creatives with limited access to the Internet can request physical entry forms from any of the above-mentioned offices. For online submissions, supporting materials may still need to be submitted in person at the above-listed places for use during adjudication.
Requirements
- All entries must be accompanied by the artist’s product(s) in the form of videotapes, cassettes, flash drives, CDs, pictures or books.
- Individuals submitting works for the NAMAs are encouraged to supply three sets of the particular works/production to assist adjudicators, except where the product is from the visual arts category.
- The NAMAs disciplines that are adjudicated are music, dance, film, literary arts, theatre, visual arts, media and spoken word.
“There will be no extension to this deadline and works submitted after it has lapsed will not be considered,” NACZ communication and marketing manager Todney Ruwende said. “We would like to remind production houses, studios, stables, galleries, organisations, associations, groups, artists and monitors that they can submit their entries physically at designated submission points or online through the NACZ website.”
