Zim: Sha Sha joins forces with Rowlene on new single
South Africa-based, Zimbabwean BET Award winner Sha Sha has featured R&B singer Rowlene on a new single called ‘Give Me Something’.
The track is the final single to be released ahead of Sha Sha’s album I'm Alive. It follows ‘Themba Lami’, which featured Afro-soul singer Ami Faku. In both songs, Sha Sha combines R&B with amapiano to create a sound that transcends music and geographical boundaries.
Available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms, the song is built around Sha Sha and Rowlene’s beautiful voices and soaring keys. The song tells the story of a girl going through a breakup weaved with a subtle beat that brings it to life.
“This is a take on heartbreak from Rowlene and I,” Sha Sha said. “The feeling of needing to let go of a past love but still hoping for a sign that things are not completely over. It is empowering to sing about this from a place of vulnerability.”
With a slew of high-profile collaborations and her own releases, Sha Sha has rapidly risen to become the queen of amapiano music. Having been nurtured and identified by singer and songwriter Audius Mtawarira, she launched her music career in 2013 at the age of 19. She later connected with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Samthing Soweto who worked with her on her debut EP Blossom.
She won a SAMA for Record of the Year in 2020 for ‘Akulaleki’ alongside Samthing Soweto, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. She has also received SAMA nominations for Best Collaboration for the runaway hits ‘Love You Tonight’ and ‘Tender Love’.
