S-Tone
Bio
S-Tone (real name Sifiso Sicelo Magagula) is a Swaziland born singer and songwriter whose passion for music began at a young age. Back then, Sifiso would sing RnB and rap songs by some well-known musicians. In 2001 while attending college in Johannesburg, he invented a stage name for himself, Maggs. Shortly afterwards, he met music producer and director, Beatmaker. He had is debut professional studio recording experience and recorded an RnB demo. The development marked his musical journey not only in recording but songwriting and vocal control. In 2003, he started working with now defunct hip-hop group called Cashless Society. He featured in a few of their records.
He is a member of 16th Note music.
In 2005, he diverted to house music with the help of house DJ, producer and friend Simza. They recorded their first song ‘Holding Back’ at Multi Racial Records studio in Pretoria. The song earned them a household name and attracted heavyweight DJ Black Coffee who remixed it at the 2006 SAMC (South African Music Conference). Both versions got massive airplay in South Africa. A number records followed thus making S-Tone one of the vocalists to reckon with.
In 2006, he collaborated with a house producer and friend Sabside. Together they made a number of songs such as ‘Mine Beng’dzakiwe’, co-produced by Sabside and Simza. Debra Steenkamp was on lead vocals and S-Tone on background vocals.
S-Tone has worked with some of Swaziland’s hip-hop forces like KRTC and M-Fourteen. He has written songs for Lando and worked with music producers like Steph, Thomas, Southern, MistoSoul and Czar. He also features on the multi-genre ‘Swazi Rhytm Volume 1’ album which features various artists. He has also worked with some of South Africa’s finest artists namely Black Coffee, Sisco, Rowick Deep, Keys Snow and Just Mo among others. He featured on records remixed by Culoe De Song and Martin East.
He was involved in the writing and composition of a few songs on Phumeza’s album, a South African singer, actress, model signed to Shota Records.
