Call for applications: Emerging Scenes in Africa programme Ghana

Emerging Scenes in Africa is linked to UNESCO's objectives on culture, education and the arts that aim to improve the status of all members of the performing arts professions.

First held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso with more than 100 participants, the project seeks to create platforms for local and international exchange and engagement in performing arts education for both emerging artists and professionals as well as the use of the performing arts for mutual understanding.

The upcoming edition will offer the following:

• Eight training workshops open to 100 male and female professional participants, young practitioners and students in the arts.
• A round-table discussion on the theme, 'Market for the performing arts: how to sell the African live performance'.
• A masterclass on artificial intelligence and performance.

Who can apply?

Interested participants in the following fields can apply:

• Sound creation.
• Visual arts.
• Theatrical staging.
• Physical theatre.
• Chinese theatre.
• Choreographic creation.
• Sound creation.
• Lighting creation.
• Scenography.

Emerging Scenes in Africa will offer participants accommodation, catering and local transport. Applicants are responsible for their international transport and workshop registration fees (€25 for students and €45 for professionals).

COVID-19

ITI Ghana head Akosua Abdallah told Music In Africa that the organisation was monitoring the COVID-19 situation and would relay relevant information if the need arises. "We do understand the current global situation and would relay relevant information as and when the need arises in tune with ITI Global for a change of date if the crisis doesn't improve," she said.
