Mer Ayang

Mer Ayang sings soulful, jazzy tunes, some updated versions of classic music from her country, but mainly new compositions. Across South Sudan she is well known for her song 'Southern Sudanese', which calls for an end to divisions among the people. Mer’s experiences at home and overseas have helped to shape her music. But most of all, she has her father in mind. He was a freedom fighter who died exactly one year before independence on July 9, 2011.
