Call for entries: TED Global Idea Search 2021
TED is inviting interested applicants from any discipline to apply for its 2021 Global Idea Search and stand a chance to give TED Talks.
TED will host two global idea searches with a mission to hear big, bold ideas from around the world.
The selection process will be done in two rounds:
- Round one: Interested individuals will be required to create a 2-minute video as a part of their submission.
- Round two: Applicants will be invited to a virtual event where they will talk more about your idea and participate in a Q&A with members of the TED community.
Successful applicants will be invited to give TED Talks either virtually or in person.
Eligibility
Before submitting, entrants should check their idea against the list below:
- Does the idea offer the audience a unique insight?
- Will the audience learn something brand new or sometging they’ve never heard before?
- Will the audience learn about a new solution to a problem?
- The idea should not be a product pitch.
- The idea should not be in the TED library.
Requirements
Entrants will be required to answer the following questions in the 2-minute video:
- Who are you, and what are your credentials?
- What is the idea you want to share?
- What insights will you leave the audience with?
- Why should we invite you to give a TED Talk?
Entrants will be required to follow the instructions below when shooting the video:
- Film using good lighting angled towards your face rather than coming from behind you.
- Use a stable camera oriented in horizontal framing.
- Make sure the sound is clear and audible.
- The recording should not exceed two minutes. An excellent way to plan for two minutes is to write out a script that is around 280 to 300 words.
How to submit
Entrants are required to upload the recording on YouTube or Vimeo and title the video in the format below:
- “Your name - TED Global Idea Search”. Make sure the video is in the public or unlisted mode.
