The tracks were recorded in Nigeria and South Africa and embody African music with a sound that travels across borders. ‘By Your Side’ features local rapper Blxckie, and was produced by Tumisho, whose current single ‘Sax Dance’ has gained popularity on TikTok.

The song is fused with strong amapiano elements, which CKay seamlessly bodies with his Afrobeats signature breezy style, while Blxckie adds his effortless flow on the track switching between Zulu and English.

“‘By Your Side’ was influenced by CKay having to make a decision between two girls,” CKay’s team said. “Although the situation was a bit messy, he ended making the right decision.”

‘Emiliana’, meanwhile, comprises attests to CKay’s unique Afrobeats style, which made him an instant household name.

“‘Emiliana' is a song about a long distance relationship I was in,” CKay said. “It's 2021 and  teleportation hasn't been invented, which is so unfortunate.”

Since the release of his EP Love Nwantiti, CKay has quickly gained popularity on the local rap scene. CKay is no stranger to making amazing music and both songs are a fitting follow up to the global chart-topping ‘Love Nwantiti’ and his 2021 EP ‘Boyfriend’.
