Tiwa Savage inks deal with Tecno Mobile
Chinese smartphone company Tecno Mobile this week unveiled Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage as its latest ambassador.
The news arrives on the heels of the company’s partnerships with Afrobeats star Fireboy DML and Kenyan musician Otile Brown earlier this month to represent the new Tecno Spark 9 and Camon 19 series, respectively.
The deal, which makes Tiwa Savage the smartphone brand’s first female ambassador in Nigeria, is expected to represent a range of Tecno devices, including the Camon 19 series, which was launched in New York on 14 June.
“Happy to have you @Tiwasavage as part of the family,” Tecno Mobile confirmed on social media Tuesday.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ hitmaker said: “This one is highly approved… Your girl is on board with one of the coolest brands ever.”
Tecno says it aims to offer users contemporary tech with artistic designs, and to “demonstrate its mastery of serving the young at heart through innovation, technological and artistic advancement in emerging markets around the world.”
The company recently launched finance app Tecno Wallet. The app, built for its devices and integrated into the Camon 19 series, offers a range of financial services and diverse payment methods.
Tiwa Savage is currently taking her Water & Garri EP on the road across North America. The tour will see her play 17 shows in American and Canadian cities, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.
Released in August 2021, the five-track Water & Garri features American R&B star Brandy, Nigerian R&B and Afro-fusion artists Tay Iwar and Rich King, Ghana’s Amaarae and veteran US rapper Nas.
