Call for applications: 2023 Modzi Arts residency in Zambia

The programme is open to all emerging and mid-career multidisciplinary artists from around the world. 

The residency is open to artists with the intent to share ideas in a collaborative context. It is self-funded and has an open duration between one to three months, anywhere between May 2023 to April 2024.

Interested artists should read the programme guidelines here before applying. The deadline for application is 31 March.

Requirements:

• Profile image.
• Artist statement describing practice and areas of interest.
• Five images of recent work.
• Statement about what the applicant would like to achieve during the residency (500 words max).
• CV/resume.

Taking place in the heart of the capital Lusaka, Modzi AIR provides artists with the opportunity to explore the Zambian art scene and the encompassing region.

The programme offers a shared living space with full access to the library, diverse gallery collection, workspaces and music production studio with a wide variety of tools available and guidance from the Modzi Arts team.

Modzi Arts was co-founded in 2016 to combine the best of Zambian arts and culture. It looks to strengthen the modern, contemporary Zambian narrative locally and internationally.

Located in a restored 1970s building, the institution hosts numerous exhibitions, residencies, artist talks and workshops throughout the year.
