Kenyan rapper Mnaya releases Flawless single
Emerging Kenyan hip hop artist Mnaya has released a new single titled ‘Flawless’ featuring Creamy Wess.
This trap-infused tune – available now for streaming and download – combines the infectious energy of Atlanta trap with the captivating rhythms of dancehall.
With themes of celebration and unwavering determination drawn from their experiences, Mnaya and Creamy Wess have crafted a compelling narrative on ‘Flawless’. The track serves as a powerful celebration of their comeback, following a challenging eight-month period during which they lost their recording equipment.
While not directly stated in the lyrics, the subtext of their journey adds a layer of depth to the song, emphasising their ability to overcome adversity and emerge stronger than ever. It is this resilience that is sure to resonate with fans.
“We are very excited to finally come from the dark place we were in,” Mnaya said. “Not being able to produce music for so long messed with us mentally and financially. We had to save to buy new equipment, but I am glad we are back.”
The production work on ‘Flawless’ also showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of the duo. The trap foundation of the song is built upon a mesmerising keyboard rhythm. Complementing this foundation is a repetitive piano line, creating a subtle sense of discomfort that amplifies the track’s intensity. The incorporation of dancehall-inspired 808 patterns adds an intriguing twist, while the trap-infused 808s provide an undeniable energy that will have listeners hooked from the very first beat.
With its fresh sound and compelling backstory, Mnaya and Creamy Wess continue to solidify their credentials as some of the hottest prospects in Nairobi’s hop hop scene. The two artists have also collaborated on the Rampage Deluxe EP. ‘Flawless’ was released on GSTR Music, a record label based in Umoja, Nairobi.
