SA: Tresor launches investment firm
South Africa-based Congolese musician Tresor has announced the launch of his R100m ($5m) Jacquel Ventures investment firm.
Tresor intends to invest in luxury goods, real estate, consumer brands, entertainment and technology-enabled businesses that will shift the narrative of African brands worldwide. The R100 million cash injection, Tresor’s team said, would be a gamechanger for South African entrepreneurs and young African entrepreneurs.
“Jacquel Ventures has been a lifelong dream,” Tresor said. “I have dedicated most of my life to music and it has changed my life beyond my wildest dreams. It has been my primary creative outlet, but I also must confess my deep love for fashion, film, architecture, interior design and entrepreneurship that I am excited to explore. Be ready for all that I am, unapologetically, and in the loudest form.”
The launch of the firm comes two months after Tresor signed a global co-publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing. His other recent music successes include an appearance on Drake’s ‘Down Hill’ track off his latest album Honestly, Nevermind. He also contributed as a writer and producer on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album – a star-studded effort that features Jay-Z, Future, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Kid Cudi and Rick Ross.
Born Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki in Goma, DRC, Tresor is known for his unique soul sound. Since he relocated to South Africa, the award-winning artist has made an indelible mark on the Afropop scene, with notable collaborations with top local musicians including AKA, Msaki and Beatenberg. Apart from his music, the singer is also involved with other projects including the Hunter’s X Jacquel Culture House (JCH) launched in April. The platform, which features workshops and talent search campaigns, is aimed at new artists in South Africa looking to succeed in the music industry. He was recently inducted into Recording Academy’s class of 2022.
