Open call: SAMPRA compliance consultant in SA
The South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the position of compliance consultant at its offices in Parktown, Johannesburg.
The position is permanent and the successful candidate will report to the chief revenue and legal officer. SAMPRA issues licences to music users and collects, manages and distributes royalties on behalf of its members.
Main purpose
- Generation of revenue by licensing new music users.
Key responsibilities
- To search for new and unlicensed businesses that are utilising sound recordings that are within SAMPRA’s repertoire.
- To educate users of the importance of licensing.
- Negotiate with non-compliant users to ensure compliance.
- To license unlicensed music users.
- To respond to all sales leads immediately.
- To manage the licensing administration process.
- To ensure that all licence application forms are correctly and accurately completed.
- To manage and resolve disputes with users.
- Conduct site visits to verify client information, where necessary.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Sales and/or negotiation training.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Above average telephone etiquette.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to clients.
- Code EB driver’s licence.
- At least two years’ sales experience.
- Own transport or ability to visit clients and prospective clients.
- Ability to work alone and in a team.
- Tenacious planner who has a drive to succeed in a performance driven environment.
- Knowledge of the copyright law (added advantage).
