Watch top sets from Sauti za Busara 2024
This past weekend, the walls of the Old Fort in Stone Town, Zanzibar, reverberated with the eclectic sounds of Sauti za Busara festival.
Famed for its commitment to promoting African music, this year’s event had thousands of festivalgoers yearning for more as three days of music simply melted away in a melodic haze, with leading African artists delivering unforgettable performances.
This year’s line-up featured 100% live performances from over 20 artists, including Stewart Sukuma & Banda Nkhuvu (Mozambique), Zoë Modiga (South Africa), Mubba (Tanzania), Flying Bantu (Zimbabwe) and Dogo Fara (Reunion Island).
From the frenetic stage displays by the likes of singeli star Sholo Mwamba (Tanzania) to an expertly polished Afrobeat presentation by Mádé Kuti & The Movement (Nigeria), the 21st edition of Sauti za Busara once again lived up to its billing, showing why it’s one of the best music events on the continent.
A fusion of rock, reggae, funk, jazz and hip hop with an underlying traditional African flavour consumed the steamy Zanzibar air, and those lucky enough to have been there will agree that this once-in-a-lifetime experience should never be missed.
