Open call: NewComma Creative Fund December 2024 cycle
The NewComma Creative Fund for African creators is inviting applications for its December 2024 cycle, with the pot doubled to £200 for this final cycle of the year.
Founded in 2020, NewComma is a digital platform dedicated to African and Black creatives, allowing them to share their work and connect with job opportunities. The fund offers a monthly micro-grant, empowering African creatives with unrestricted support.
Over $6 000 has been awarded to more than 30 recipients to date. They are drawn from countries such as Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Angola, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya, and the UK.
Eligibility
- The fund is open to practising African/Black creatives.
- Applicants must be active in their creative fields to apply.
How to Apply
- Applicants must create a NewComma account to apply.
- Applicants need to showcase their best projects on NewComma by adding at least three pieces to their portfolio.
- Once the portfolio is ready, applicants may complete the application form here.
The deadline for applications is 31 December.
Note:
- The judges will only consider applications with NewComma project links. The embed block can be used to add work from various platforms such as YouTube, Figma, and Spotify to the NewComma project before submission.
- The quality of creative effort is highly valued and should be demonstrated by including fine details about the project and the process behind its creation in the submitted NewComma project.
- Applicants should also provide a detailed explanation of how the micro-grant will support their creative endeavours within their application.
- To increase the visibility of their work, individuals should promote their projects by sharing links to their NewComma projects with the hashtag #NCFund.
