Open call: #NATIVELANDxHennessy Challenge for emerging rappers in Nigeria
Registrations are now open for the 2024 #NATIVELANDxHennessy Challenge for emerging Nigerian rappers.
The concert forms part of activities designed around this year’s NATIVELAND festival, scheduled for 21 December at the Sol Beach in Lagos, Nigeria.
“Time to bar up,” organisers said in an announcement. “Calling on the best rappers in the country to battle it out IRL [sic] for the 2024 Prize, which includes a performance slot at #NATIVELAND24 and a guest verse from one of our judges.”
Sholz and PDSTRN, the duo behind Rock, Paper, Scissors will judge this year’s rap contest. PDSTRN, a seasoned competitor, won the Hennessy Artistry VS Class VIII, while DJ Sholz brings expertise from working with Kanye West and Ayra Starr.
“Together, they have an eye for spotting rap talent with ease,” a statement adds.
The competition will be held on 20 December.
How to enter:
- Rappers must register using this link.
- The competition will have two stages: Performance Stage and Battle Stage.
- In the Performance Stage, rappers must rap on a beat using the words “Native,” “Very Special,” and “Hennessy” in their verses.
NATIVELAND 2024 will feature a lineup comprising Central Cee, Odumodublvck, Odeal, Len, and Fimiguerrero. Joining them are Odunsi the Engine, Cruel Santino, Zerryl, Thisizlondon, Fave, Bloody Civilian, Qing Madi & Deela, Deto Black, Brazy, and Aniko Llona. The roster also includes Toyé, Kold Af, Rigo Kamp, Ayanfe, Vogue Boys, WeAreAllChemicals, and Valentino.
Hosting the decks are DJ Tunez and the Native Sound System.
