
SA: ARMC moves to Constitution Hill for 2025 edition
The Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) has announced significant updates for its 2025 edition, including a new venue, new dates, and an expanded line-up of industry leaders.

This year’s conference will take place at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, South Africa from 22 to 23 May. Organisers said the move aligns with ARMC’s mission to foster meaningful discussions about the future of African music within a space of deep cultural and historical significance.
“As ARMC continues to evolve, this move marks a significant step forward, one that we hope will become a lasting home for the conference,” ARMC founder SJ Nicholson said. “Our focus remains on impact, particularly the economic influence we have on the music industry. Through our conference, we aim to deepen understanding of international markets while up-skilling African professionals with global insights.”
First speakers announced
ARMC 2025 will feature a diverse line-up of influential speakers from across Africa and the global music industry. Among the key names announced are local artists Rethabile Khumalo, Jack Parow, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Msaki, as well as Duma Collective founder Sibu Mabena. Representing the international market are Audiomack vice president of marketing (EU, Africa & MENA) Charlotte Bwana, and Mixmag global editorial director Nick DeCosemo.
Adding to the speaker list is P_ssy Party co-founder Phatstoki and Nickita Maesela, city manager for Johannesburg at Resident Advisor. Jonathan Bandli, creative director at Bad Weather Productions, and Rehana Pillay, general manager at Mint Digital Services, will also share insights from their extensive industry experience. Rounding out the line-up is Alan Freeman, director at Freeman House Recovery, bringing a unique perspective on mental health and well-being in the music industry.

ARMC 2025 has also secured collaborations with major industry players including top pan-African media outlet Music In Africa, HYPE Magazine, Resident Advisor, and Rolling Stone Africa.
Other partners include AlphaTheta, Paradise Worldwide, Mint Digital Services, Audiomack, Sealand Gear, MANZI Water, Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg, PRS Foundation, and Pro Helvetia.
