Zimbabwe: Arts council appoints deputy director

In his new role, Kusena is expected to transform the NACZ into a visible, vibrant and well-resourced organisation. He isalso expected to build a strong financial base to facilitate the effective coordination and support of the development of arts and cultural programmes.

Josia Kusena has a vast knowledge of resource mobilisation and management. He is a holder of an executive master of peace and governance from Africa University, bachelor of arts in communication science from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and a national diploma in librarianship from the Harare Polytechnic.

Kusena is also a public relations and communication expert having worked with the European Commission to Zimbabwe for eight years. 

Speaking on the latest appointment, NACZ director Nicholas Moyo said: "This appointment is being made after completion of a highly competitive selection process. The NACZ Board and management congratulate Mr Kusena on his appointment and take this opportunity to introduce him to all stakeholders, players in the art business, investors, practitioners and friends of the arts.

"We urge all concerned to support him in this new position. His main tasks will be to supervise operations of all the departments and sections of the council and to mobilise material and financial resources that will enable the Ccouncil to promote and support the growth of the arts and culture sector in Zimbabwe.

Moyo was appointed NACZ director on 31 July 2018. He was tasked with leading the institution's management team and galvanise support for the NACZ's 2018-22 strategic plan and its implementation.
