Digital Sangoma
Bio
Digital Sangoma, real name Mandisi Mafu, is a music producer, recording artist and performer. Previously working under the name Mandie Mafu, he officially rebranded as Digital Sangoma during his performance at the 2017 Cape Town Electronic Music Festival. In 2016, Digital Sangoma released a single from his upcoming album. The single had good reception.
During this period Digital Sangoma performed at a few events and venues around Cape town. In late 2016 he produced a remix for a Grammy winner Dobet Gnahoré, who later released it on her official Facebook page.
Mafu grew up in Peddie, Eastern Cape and moved to Cape Town in 2007. In 2009 he enrolled at Cape Audio College where he studied to become a sound engineer and electronic music programmer. Since then he has been composing and producing his own music.
Digital Sangoma's production sound is a fusion of kwaito, Afro-beats and an undertone of electronic synths. The tempo usually ranges from 110 to 115 BPM. His vocal delivery is energetic, expressive and soulful. Thematically, several of his songs share African stories and experiences of him growing up in the Eastern Cape as well as his beliefs.
