Leumas Owabajaja
Bio
Leumas Owabajaja (born Samuel Sendagire) is an African contemporary hip hop recording artist, fashion designer, and social activist from Eastern Uganda. His work reflects his life’s mission to contribute to a better world by supporting and inspiring people around him.
Best known for his music, Leumas embarked on his music career in 2012, with his two friends BygBen Sukuya and Blazy Umukuka in the short-lived rap group BAYINGA. Since then, he has been pursuing a solo music career, while also being involved in co-productions with artists such as Isaiah Destiny, Sharon Sento and Patra. His music is circled around African lifestyles and life events, which makes his music unique, and he also incorporates elements of different musical traditions, giving his music a distinctive style.
He released his first single titled Enkovu (Scar), followed by Sive Mukyalo, Village Girl, Nasollo as well as poems such as Silent Voices. Moreover, in 2013, Leumas Owabajaja was featured on the Hip Hop Boot Camp album by Youth & Hip-Hop. He has further performed on various regional and international festivals such as Bayimba Arts Festival (2013-2015) and LABA Arts Festival (May 2017). He additionally won the UG Hip Hop Awards’ Eastern rapper of the Year Award for 2017, and 2019. In 2018 and 2019, Leumas Owabajaja worked with Youth & Hip hop as a workshop facilitator during the Hip Hop Boot Camp. In May of 2019, Leumas held the first album release theatre show in Mbale, Uganda.
In December of 2019, Leumas Owabajaja released his first music album titled “Emirandira”, which will can be found for free on his website, www.owabajaja.com, and streaming or available for purchase on virtually every music platform available, including but not limited to, Spotify, Deezer, Itunes, Apple Music, etc.
