Bio
Born and raised in Polokwane, Phalanndwa Joseph Mbedzi, affectionately known as Punk Mbedzi, is a natural born Creator. The Dj, producer, storyteller and
entrepreneur has played a vital role in supporting and growing afro house and dance community, which is a culture for many.
From headlining shows in Africa alongside the likes of Black Coffee, to spinning the decks in Paris, Punk has garnered support of loyal fans across the globe. His authentic love for people and music gives him an edge that many don’t have as he continues to rise in the entertainment industry.
To date, Punk Mbedzi has gone on to found his company, ‘Under Bridges’ in 2016, which hosts events, the largest being ‘The Rhythm’, which has become an important platform for Afro House artists and fans alike. His most recent offering ‘Milk and Honey’, released in November 2019 has to date, received wide support. In addition to headlining shows around Africa and performing internationally such as at Djoon Club in Paris, Punk has also featured on shows that include Black Coffee’s ‘Africa Is Not A Jungle’, Coffee’s joint project with Euphonik; ‘Deep In The City’, Euphonik and DJ Fresh’s ‘OhShip 2019’, ‘Ultra South Africa 2020’, and he currently has a mix aired every Wednesday on Smash Afrika’s #LiveAt5 show on major South African radio station, 5FM.
