Sandy B (born Sandile Sandy) is an Afro-pop and house artist from South Africa. He is know to the the Kwaito Music legend and pioneer of the genre whose contribution to the music business has won him awards. He has released 6 albums and many singles. Apart from music, he has also a good profile as a radio contributor. He has had music shows or music business features on radios like Metro Fm, Ukhozi Fm, Inanda Fm, Vibe Fm, Durban Youth Radio, Hotwax (Denmark), Redlight Radio (Netherlands), Le Mellotron (Paris), MHS (Denmark), Kiosk Radio (Brussels).
His timeless music especially the sound from his timeless album AmaJovi jovi is enjoyed and bought by vinyl collectors around the globe who regard him as a legend.
In 1994, the Durban-based artist released his single 'Amajovi Jovi', an infectious kwaito song with the laconic flow and thumping basslines that typify kwaito.
In June 2018, he performed at the annual Copenhagen Distortion in Denmark. While his profile continues to be reignited overseas, back home, he’s more than happy to live a life of relative anonymity.
In 2019 he collaborated with a Danish producer DJ Simon Aha to release an album Qhum Qhaks and managed to shoot a video in the outskirts of Denmark in a place called Grenaa, 5 hours away from Copenhagen.
Sandy B splits his time between radio, artists development and running his record label and CD printing business. In his own way, he’s worked and contributed to a music scene greatly even by providing other very important services and artists developmental projects to other artists via his company Mega Star World. His legendary work in music has exposed him to a larger international following and performed abroad a lot, touring countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Russia. But since lockdown, like everyone in the industry, Sandy B's work has not been able to generate some income since March 2020 and as it is tough for everyone to make ends meet, it's the same with this selfless legend with those who had been benefitting from his work.
In 2020 before lockdown King Goodwill Zwelithini made Sandy B in charge of his music since he had developed his love for playing piano. Sandy B had to be responsible for taking care of the Kings new found love in music and be the one who guides the King about all music steps.
When the world closed due to Covid, art stopped but Sandy B started setting up for online performances and music business lessons at his own home. He even managed to complete two new albums and one being a collaboration with a Portugal producer. He also managed to release a hit single Umjovo which made it to the country's biggest music chat UKHOZI FM TOP 20. The same song is on high rotation on TV music channels.
