NEFCISA

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

Music In Africa Gender @ Work is a three-year training programme aimed at upskilling and increasing the participation of female professionals in the African music sector. Launched by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in April 2019, the programme is connected to the MIAF’s ACCES music conference – a pan-African event held in a different African country every year. This connection enables the programme to reach new participants in a different African country every year. The programme marks the beginning of a more concerted effort by the Foundation to support the participation and inclusion of women in all facets of its programmes and the music sector in Africa as a whole. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

SANDY B

BIO

Sandy B (born Sandile Sandy) is an Afro-pop and house artist from South Africa. He is know to the the Kwaito Music legend and pioneer of the genre whose contribution to the music business has won him awards. He has released 6 albums and many singles. Apart from music, he has also a good profile as a radio contributor. He has had music shows or music business features on radios like Metro Fm, Ukhozi Fm, Inanda Fm, Vibe Fm, Durban Youth Radio, Hotwax (Denmark), Redlight Radio (Netherlands), Le Mellotron (Paris), MHS (Denmark), Kiosk Radio (Brussels).

His timeless music especially the sound from his timeless album AmaJovi jovi is enjoyed and bought by vinyl collectors around the globe who regard him as a legend.

In 1994, the Durban-based artist released his single 'Amajovi Jovi', an infectious kwaito song with the laconic flow and thumping basslines that typify kwaito.

In June 2018, he performed at the annual Copenhagen Distortion in Denmark. While his profile continues to be reignited overseas, back home, he’s more than happy to live a life of relative anonymity.

In 2019 he collaborated with a Danish producer DJ Simon Aha to release an album Qhum Qhaks and managed to shoot a video in the outskirts of Denmark in a place called Grenaa, 5 hours away from Copenhagen.

Sandy B splits his time between radio, artists development and running his record label and CD printing business. In his own way, he’s worked and contributed to a music scene greatly even by providing other very important services and artists developmental projects to other artists via his company Mega Star World. His legendary work in music has exposed him to a larger international following and performed abroad a lot, touring countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Russia. But since lockdown, like everyone in the industry, Sandy B's work has not been able to generate some income since March 2020 and as it is tough for everyone to make ends meet, it's the same with this selfless legend with those who had been benefitting from his work.

In 2020 before lockdown King Goodwill Zwelithini made Sandy B in charge of his music since he had developed his love for playing piano. Sandy B had to be responsible for taking care of the Kings new found love in music and be the one who guides the King about all music steps.
When the world closed due to Covid, art stopped but Sandy B started setting up for online performances and music business lessons at his own home. He even managed to complete two new albums and one being a collaboration with a Portugal producer. He also managed to release a hit single Umjovo which made it to the country's biggest music chat UKHOZI FM TOP 20. The same song is on high rotation on TV music channels.
He also released another soulful single It's Time, a song that speaks about the current situation and serves as a healing song to those who lost their loved ones also a tribute to many of our world icons who succumbed to Covid.
Currently, Sandy B keeps himself busy with his home online gigs and on the plans to do Ekasi BackYard Music Business master classes.
A true selfless legend.
