Skipper Shabalala
Bio
Skipper Shabalala is a South African industry veteran who's been in the music scene for more than 30 years as a professional musician. He's a guitar player, a producer and a singer who hails from Vosloorus township in Ekurhuleni. In 1986 he formed a band called Zasha which produced a big hit then, called Brika Bova. Zasha also performed as a backing band in the late 80's and early 90's for top acts like Kamazu, Ali Kat, Chico and DR Rebecca Malope just to name a few.
In the year 2000 while Skipper was still working with the late Mr Lucky Dube, he formed and produced an Afro fusion band called Khumbula. Khumbula released 2 albums:Bayakhuluma and Khetha. Songs like Bayakhuluma and Sbali from those 2 albums were hits and in high rotation then. Skipper Shabalala worked with the likes of Siphokazi, Mr Caiphus Semenya and Mama Letta Mbulu. He was involved in many projects of different ganres, Gospel, Afro sound music styles, Reggae, Pop, you name them,,/ 3 live recordings of Gospel In Me, Mr Caiphus Semenya live recording Mr Lucky Dube's 5 studio album and many more love performances.
