Africa had better brace itself for a vibrant, captivating and undeniable star, blazing her own path to success. Sofaya is an emerging Afro-Pop singer-songwriter from Johannesburg, South Africa, whose journey to success has been marked by resilience and determination. Raised by a single mother after losing her father at 13, then becoming homeless having to fend for herself, the many hardships fueled her ambition. In 2014, she left a corporate career to pursue music, combining her business acumen from a management course with her talent and passion for the arts.
Sofaya is a genre fluid artist who's music and performance, blends soul, pop, with contemporary Afro-Pop and house music with dance influences, drawing inspiration from both old-school legend and current icons like Brenda Fassie, Whitney Houston & Adele. After signing with Sony Music Africa in 2014, she released singles that showcased her unique sound. Alongside her fiancé Thami Dineka, she later founded their independent record label, RCE, actively working to change the South African music landscape and grow her unique brand.
