ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tito Monako is a bass player, singer and composer originally from DRC (Congo). Fusing African melodies with Jazz principles and smooth horn arrangements with vocals, his music takes you on an inspiring journey to the DRC.
Currently working on his debut album, Tito Monako is passionate about sharing his experience growing up in the DRC. Despite the challenges of living with the results of the horrific colonial rule, Tito’s songs highlight the beauty of living in what should have been one of the richest countries in the world.
Having collaborated with musicians from all around the world, Tito is highly inspired by Richard Bona, Jacob Pastoria, Marcus Miller.
BACKGROUND
Tito Monako was born in DRC (Congo) in 1987 into a family of musicians. His father, Valentin Monako was a well respected Gospel musician. He used to write songs under the mango tree in Bunia (Eastern Congo) where Tito spent the first years of his life. In the early 2000s, Tito and his family moved to Kenya. Not long thereafter, Valentin Monako sadly passed on and Tito took up various instruments, with the dream of following in his fathers' footsteps.
