Yuzarseef
Bio
Originally from Tunis, Youssef Khiari is a guitarist, composer and producer. Drawing sound inspiration in jazz, hip-hop, R&B, funk and traditional North African music, Youssef affirms through his music that there no longer exist genres in 2022, but a synthesis of all these styles.
Choosing the guitar at the age of 11, Youssef formed a rock group with which he would constantly play in his hometown, Tunis. Growing up, his influences musical styles changed, leaning more towards blues and funk.
It was only in 2015 that he started playing jazz and met the great master Jazzman Fawzi. Chekili, with whom he played on several occasions and from whom he learned a lot.
In the next two years, he will have the opportunity to perform in the Jazz scene.
Tunisian, notably playing important concerts such as Jazz Day 2017.
In the same year, Youssef left his hometown to begin his studies in jazz performance at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, California. There he lives of music between classes during the day and jam sessions/concerts at night. This environment allows him to mature musically and to perform in jazz clubs from San Francisco. In 2018, he toured and recorded the Human Being EP with the
funk band: C.Marcus Scott and the funky Spliff.
Finally finished with his studies, Youssef moved to New York in 2020 where he will continue to develop on the jazz and hiphop scene, releasing his first album “Times & Aphorisms” in 2021 which draws inspiration from all his musical influences. Between 2022 and 2023, Youssef plays his project a little throughout the United States and released two live albums (Yuzarseef & interstellar Crusaders: Live at
Nublu, NYC #1 and Yuzarseef & Interstellar Crusaders live at Nublu, NYC #2) and begins working on his next album entitled "Quicksand Kinetic" which will be released in 2024.
