Jean-Pierre Seck
Bio
Jean-Pierre Seck is a French music producer, publisher, and journalist, renowned for his contribution to the hip-hop scene.
Co-founder of the label 45 Scientific with Ali, Geraldo, and Booba, he has produced iconic French rap albums such as "Mauvais Œil" by the group Lunatic and "Temps Mort" by Booba.
His career began in the record industry in 1995 as a freelancer for the magazine L’Affiche under the direction of Olivier Cachin. There, he created the Underground Parisien, a column dedicated to emerging talents in French rap, where artists like Diam's, Rohff, Oxmo Puccino, and Kery James were revealed. In 1998, he was promoted to deputy editor-in-chief of L'Affiche. Concurrently, he co-hosted the talk show Sang d’encre on Générations 88.2 FM and collaborated with Radikal magazine.
In 1999, he made his mark as a producer with the mixtape "Sang-D’Encre," certified gold. The following year, he devoted himself fully to production and founded 45 Scientific. The label scored a major success in 2000 with Lunatic's Mauvais Œil, which sold over 150,000 copies, followed by Booba's Temps Mort in 2001.
After the dissolution of 45 Scientific in 2006, Jean-Pierre created the label Allmade with Laura Bui and Driver, which notably kickstarted the career of rapper Black Kent.
Diversifying his activities, Jean-Pierre turned to audiovisual production in 2009, producing "Slam Info" for Canal+. In 2014, he launched "On Refait le Rap" on YouTube, shedding light on French and American rap. He also produced Hip Hop Stories, a documentary series presented by Driver.
Between 2013 and 2017, he dedicated himself to the development of software for the African copyright office and a tracking box for music played in public. His career then took on an international dimension: from 2017 to 2019, he became the Director of Publishing at Universal Music Africa.
From 2019 to 2023, he relaunched Allmade, focusing on African talent. He collaborated with renowned artists such as Dip Doundou Guiss (the number one urban artist in Senegal), Toofan (the biggest group from Francophone Africa originating from Togo), and Ludafrick (gold-certified Congolese hitmaker with the single "Dragon"), and co-produced with Booba artists such as Dopeboy DMG and Jolie. The talented composer Karabalick, author of several hits, is also among his notable collaborations.
Over the years, Jean-Pierre Seck has become an essential figure in the music landscape, demonstrating an unwavering passion for music and a continual ability to innovate.
