Call for applications: Refugee artist-in-residence programme in France
Association des Centres Culturels de Rencontren (ACCR), with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, is calling on artists, researchers and culture professionals from Africa and the Near and Middle East who have recently received refugee status in France to apply for the NORA artist-in-residence programme.
Launched in 2016, the programme, in partnership with several cultural centres in France, seek to ensure that participants gain practical knowledge of French cultural, artistic and intellectual networks and build long-term connections and partnerships.
The selected participants will be required to develop projects at any of the 12 French Heritage Sites for Culture. The period of residency can vary from one to six months.
Interested participants can apply for residency in any of the French Heritage Sites for Culture:
- Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud
- Abbaye de Noirlac Centre Culturel de Rencontre
- Abbaye de Sylvanès Centre Culturel de Rencontre
- Ambronay – Centre Culturel de Rencontre
- La Chartreuse de Neuville Sous Montreuil
- La Chartreuse de Villeneuve Lez Avignon
- Château de Goutelas – Centre Culturel de Rencontre
- Imec-Abbaye D’ardenne
- Domaine de la Vergne
- Les Dominicains de Haute-Alsace
- Prieure de la Charite, Cite du Mot
- EPCC – La Saline Royale D’arc-Et-Senans
Participants selected by ACCR will:
- Receive €1 000 per month and the refunding of their travel fees.
- Stay free of charge at the cultural centre that has accepted them.
- Have at their disposal material necessary for their residency project.
Who can apply?
The call is for artists, researchers and culture professionals from Africa and the Near and Middle East. However, priority will be given to applicants from:
- South Sudan
- Eritrea
- Syria
- Iraq
- Libya
- Yemen
The application deadline is 22 February.
Requirements
- CV/bio.
- Personal project for the residency period in line with the global project of the welcoming centre.
- Cover letter.
- Recommendation letter.
- Copy of passport or national identity card.
- Photograph of French residence permit or other documents received from the prefecture.
