Call for applications: Arab world arts and culture grants
Arab artists and cultural actors can apply for Mophradat grants.

Approximately 15 grants are awarded each calendar year, with an average value of $5 000. The grants are awarded based on the quality of the proposed activity or project and the results are communicated within four weeks of the application deadline.
Grant recipients are selected by an external advisory committee and the funds will be released in a two-stage process: 80% when the grant agreement is signed and the remaining 20% on project completion.
The application has two deadlines: 1 April and 1 October 2020.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be researchers and cultural actors originating from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
The grant supports the following activities:
- Research
- Stage an event
- Make new work
- Publish
- Travel
- Take part in a residency or workshop
- Present an exhibition or performance
Eligibility
The applicants must:
- Come from the field of contemporary arts (all disciplines are welcome).
- Be primarily engaged with artistic concerns and aim toward high artistic merit.
- Be achievable and completed within 12 months of the grant submission deadline.
Note that:
- Activities or projects can take place anywhere in the world but must be by artists or arts practitioners from or living in the Arab world, and/or engaged with the Arab world.
- Applications to attend degree-based study programmes (such as MAs or PhDs) are out of the grant programme’s scope and will not be considered.
- Applications for feature films production are not given priority.
