Rema, Flavour and Naira Marley to headline Gidi Fest in Lagos
The Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos will host the 2020 edition Gidi Culture Festival from 9 to 11 April.
Organised by Eclipse Live Production, the annual Easter Weekend event is in its seventh edition and celebrates African urban youth culture through music, food, art and games.
The year’s festival is themed Bringing It Home and will be headlined by Rema, Flavour and Naira Marley. For the first time, the event will take place over three days and feature local talent and musicians from the diaspora, who will be announced in due course.
Each of the announced acts will headline a day of the festival, with Rema performing on the first day and Flavour and Naira Marley closing Day 2 and 3 respectively.
“This year is all about bringing it home, while also throwing the most global cultural celebration for the Gidi Tribe yet,” Eclipse Live Production co-founder Chinedu Okeke said. “A new venue and two extra days and so much excitement and music, food art and games to share.
“It has been a rewarding seven-year journey so far and everything just keeps growing year on year. To now be considered the biggest and most longstanding festival in the region is an incredible achievement. We can’t wait to welcome more new people to Lagos than ever before, showcase the best creative artists in Africa, and show our thriving city to the world”.
The 2019 edition of Gidi Fest was held at the Landmark Beach Front, also in Lagos. It featured Niniola, Wande Coal, Teni, Moonchild, Sanelly, Patoranking, DJ Neptune, DJ Cuppy, Sarz and many others.
