Call for applications: Record at Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town
Red Bull’s music studios in Cape Town is calling on South African artists to submit applications to record their original music.
- South African rapper Rouge is among the artists who have recorded at Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town.
Selected artists will be given a platform to be heard and gain insight into the music industry while being equipped with basic but essential tools to help them on their journey to achieving their goals as music makers in South Africa.
Interested artists can submit applications here. The deadline is 6 April.
“We are looking to bring in six artists over the course of April, May and June 2020, for five days (Monday to Friday) each," Red Bull Music Studios said. "We are in particular interested in artists creating vibrant, fresh, local sounds – think amapiano, gqom, kwaito, maskandi, etc. Of course, we have always been supportive of South African hip hop, house and R&B, and as a secondary focus, are also looking for artists in these genres.”
The studio said it would also help the selected artists create up-to-date electronic press kits (EPKs), including a professional biography and images that can be used for self-promotion.
Once entries have been screened, the artists will be given the opportunity to come into the studio where they will be able to record and produce their original music. Successful artists will join the ranks of Rouge, Nasty C, Da Capo and many more A-listers who have recorded at the Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town.
Red Bull Music Studios Cape Town will cover the entire experience in full, including flights and hotel accommodation, if the artists reside outside Cape Town.
