Call for proposals: 2020 Creativate Digital Arts Festival in SA
Creativate Digital Arts Festival, which runs alongside the National Arts Festival in Makhanda, South Africa, from 25 June to 5 July, is calling on musicians, technologists, futurists, animators, gamers and performers to send proposals to be part of the event's programme.
The festival seeks to reimagine, unravel and question the new world. Submissions for Creativate 2020 will be considered in any one or a combination of arts disciplines where the proposed work features or deploys technology as a critical component or tool for execution of the work.
Successful applicants will be offered a production budget, presentation/speaker’s fee or honorarium depending on the nature of the proposal.
Interested artists should submit their proposals here. The application deadline is 9 April.
“We want to explore the realms of music, theatre, dance, visual art, film, gaming, hacking, coding, design, robotics, virtual reality, crowdsourced inspiration, artificial intelligence and all the spaces and crevices in between,” Creativate Digital Arts Festival said.
“Technological connection is the new normal and we must reimagine what is ‘real’, what is natural? What is creativity? What does it mean to be human, to be aware, what does it mean to produce and consume? What does it mean to be watched and tracked and be infected with malicious code?”
It was announced recently that the National Arts Festival will go fully digital amid coronavirus restrictions in South Africa.
