Damiano Chilekwa
Bio
Damiano Chilekwa (also known as Mwana Mfumu) is a Zambian musician who was born in 1984, in Kabwe. He attended his primary school at St Mary's Primary and Lukanga Basic schools. He went to Mukabeko School and Kabwe High school for his high school.
He started music while at school in Kabwe. Before venturing into music, he did a lot of acting in the school drama club and to some extent thought acting was his main thing. In released his debut album entitled ‘Lishuhuko’. The title ‘Lishuko’ received considerable airplay in Zambia.
He featured K Millian and Mampi. The album was produced by Roma Side Studios under T.K. Chali "Bravo" Mulalami of Sling beats. Domiano contributed two songs in the successful projects of Alice Chuma in the release of Okondedwa.
He did his first studio recordings while at Kabwe high school and the first single was of course a secular song titled ‘Yankalako Bad’,produced by Trevor at Roma Side Studios. He later signed to Roma Side records where he recorded his first secular album titled ‘Lishuko’.
He became a born again and ventured into gospel music. In 2010 he signed up with Blazer Studios under Ben Kalulu popularly known as Ben Blazer. In July 2015 he launched a gospel album that features songs such as ‘Ikeni’, ‘Amenshi’, ‘Eli’, ‘Nemituma’ and ‘Along The Way’. Seasoned artistes who worked with Damiano on his album include Mark Kasomo of the B3 fame on the song Imbakilileni, Kobova (Victor Chaushi) added some flavour on the song Prophecy Man of God.
The album, which was recorded at Blazer studios, adds up to the numerous albums recorded by youthful praise and worship singers in the past.
