The Speaking Heart

The Speaking Heart started as a quartet in 2018 with focus on jazz music. The band, before moving to the country's entertainment hub frequently played jazz standard tunes, highlife and contemporary music to refresh souls at Jazz by Chrysalis Cafe in Ibadan, Nigeria

In 2019, the band released a four-track ep which has some re arrangement of jazz standard and yoruba traditional tune. In 2020, the band recorded three original compositions. These compositions are a blend of African traditional music and jazz.

The band is made of professional musicians who have gone through formal education in music of different sorts. They are:
Joshua Mba: Pianist/Band director
Peter Adedeji: Saxophonist
John Oladoja: Trumpeter
Samuel Abata: Drummer
Iyke Sonye: Bass player
Oladotun Alani: Vocalist
Ositadinma Azike: Vocalist.

The band is independent and ready to tour the world to refresh souls with its music
