SendMusic launches iOS app
UK tech startup SendMusic has launched a mobile app, large music file transfer options, and a collaborative platform for iOS users.
The free mobile app adds instant messaging and push notification features alongside file management and collaboration. The service, which was previously available only to desktop users, now enables file transfers of up to 3GB for free, and secure instant messaging on mobile.
“You can now send, receive, listen and reply all in one place ... with a truckload of features that make it so much better than using email or file transfer sites,” a SendMusic blog post reads.
The service has an in-app music player that lets subscribers preview music before downloading it.
SendMusic can also be used as a promo tool, with users able to add links to new releases, videos, merchandise and live dates, among others. A short link can then be created, which redirects back to the main SendMusic profile.
Accessibility of songs can be customised by the owner, making them either ‘stream only’ or ‘stream and download’. An expiry option of the file between one day and a month can be set and sent along with messages.
Additionally, if multiple files are sent to stream, the message will arrive as a playlist. If sent to download, it will arrive as a ready-made zip file.
The 3GB transfer option is free, while 5GBs and 10GBs cost $5 and $10 a month, or $50 and $100 a year, respectively.
To celebrate the launch, SendMusic is offering six months free for its top subscription plan.
The desktop version has been praised by British DJ MistaJam, who said: “What I would love is something that makes it really easy, simple and idiot-proof. The great news is, SendMusic has built it”.
Other notable musicians and professionals who have used the app include British electronic music duo Waze and Odyssey, and British DJ and producer Benji B.
