
Call for entries: Videonale Festival in Germany
Videonale Festival is accepting entries from artists and filmmakers for the event's 18 edition scheduled to take place at the Bonn Museum of Modern Art in Germany between 4 March and 18 April 2021.

Videonale is one of the most significant festivals for experimental video and moving images. It is an important venue for artists, curators, collectors and the interested public, as well as a platform for discussing current themes and aesthetics of moving images.
Videonale accepts works produced after 1 January 2018 and in the following categories :
- Sound art.
- Performance.
- Experimental works from the fields of single- and multi-channel video.
- Video installation.
- Virtual reality.
Videonale will present the selected works in a large-scale exhibition. The exhibition opening is followed by an extensive festival programme that includes discursive and networking events, performances, concerts, and retrospectives.
The application deadline is 30 June 2020.
Requirements
- Biography.
- List of the exhibitions/festivals where the work has already been presented.
- Preview link to the full-length work on your website, Vimeo or YouTube and password, which must be valid until February 2021.
- In the case of performance submissions, a preview link to video documentation can be submitted, if available.
Note:
- Links to Dropbox or other platforms where the video must be downloaded are not accepted.
- When submitting work in the categories video installation, performance and sound art, detailed descriptions and installation instructions including specifications of the optimal presentation form in an exhibition/information about the requirements for the performance must be enclosed, as well as, if available, video documentation.
- Sending other materials like a portfolio or catalogue is not allowed.
Application fee
An administration fee per submission will be charged via PayPal:
- Until 14 June 2020 – €15.
- From 15 June 2020 – €5.
Selection process
- A competition jury, consisting of international art critics, artists and curators will decide on the participation of the submitted works in the festival.
- All submitters will be informed about the decision of the competition jury starting from October 2020.
Prize
One of the works selected will receive the Videonale Fluentum Collection Award worth €5 000 ($5 700). The winner will be announced on the opening night of the festival.
Remuneration
All selected artists are expected to cater to their travel expenses. Videonale will provide free accommodation and an exhibition fee. Participants will also have free access to the festival and networking events.
