‘Own Your Throne’ is the South African rapper's third single since she entered the music scene with ‘Wuz Dat’ in 2018, which was followed by ‘Ba Kae’ the following year.

“‘Own Your Throne’ celebrates all the independent women out there working hard in their respective fields,” Boity told Music In Africa. “In the song, I also pay tribute to two very strong black women: Connie Ferguson and my mother, Modiehi Thulo.

“The song was produced by UK-based producer Crumz. I’m very grateful to have worked with him on this single, as he has worked with many big musicians such as Tinie Tempah, Stefflon Don, Mr Eazi and Ella Mai to name a few.”

Commenting on her deal with the Def Jam Africa, she said: “I feel very blessed and honoured to be presented with the opportunity, especially so early in my career. This means more international opportunities for me and a wider market of consumers of my music.

“My journey as a musician has been nothing short of amazing. I could’ve never predicted all the blessings that have come my way since my debut in 2018. My first single ‘Wuz Dat’ is officially a platinum-selling record. I’ve toured across South Africa and done shows in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and even as far as Cyprus. I’m excited to see where this journey will take me.”

Asked if ‘Own Your Throne’ is off an upcoming album, she said: “I’ve been working on a project since late last year. I don’t have a title or date just yet but you can definitely expect a lot more music from me this year.”
