Yinka Davies
Bio
Yinka Davies is a Nigerian vocalist, dancer, lyricist. Her first love was actually painting and sculpting, which she practices from 1987 while until she met Elizabeth Hammond, a ghanaian dancer, who held dance classes at the national theatre. In 1992, ,she was spotted by the organizes of the Fame Music Award, for her work in theatre, video and choreography and background vocals for other artists.
The management of a club in Lagos, Bread and Butter Jazz club involved her in an effort to introduce a new artist called Lagbaja and she was involved in the production of his first album called Side by Side, which was released in 1993. She also collaborated with Nigerian recording artistes such as Mike Okri, Shina Peters, Blackky, and many others not only as a backup vocalist and choreographer for their music videos.
After an accident in Lagos, in January 1994, which led to a major surgery, her ability to dance was affected and she focused on Music.
She’s been a judge on Nigerian Idols since 2010.
