The Lagos Jazz Series Orchestra impresses at Charity Concert

The Orchestra, widely regarded as Nigeria's foremost Traditional Jazz Orchestra, performing as a trio, delivered a combination of high quality Jazz standards, such as Charlie Parker's 'Night in Tunisia', Clifford Brown's 'Carnival', Miles Davis' 'So What' and virtuoso deliveries of their own original compositions. The impeccable tonal discipline and complex mastery of this group was in full cry, as they held the audience at the Quintessence Art Gallery and Bookshop in Lagos, spellbound in the 60-minute set.

The performance which was organised by Music In Africa, for the benefit of the Eruobodo House Charity, raised close to $3000, to support the excellent work it has done over the last 18 years, impacting on the lives of several hundred children, with severe physical and mental disabilities. The event also featured a rendition of beat poetry, by Nigerian poet Evans Iheanetu and the screening of a documentary, 'Onunaekwuluora'. The chairperson of the charity, Chief Aino Oni-Okpaku, once again expressed her sincere gratitude to Music In Africa for its invaluable assistance.
