Call for nominations: 2020 Emerging Music Awards in Ghana
Kusstar Entertainment, the organiser of the Emerging Music Awards (EMAs) in Ghana, is calling for music submissions for this year’s event. Nominations are open until 25 September.

The EMAs are open to Ghanaians living in or outside the country who have released music within the year under review. Now in its second year, the awards aim to highlight and honour budding musicians within the seven major genres in the country, namely gospel, highlife, hiplife, hip hop, reggae-dancehall, Afropop and traditional.
Nominees should not have been recognised or awarded through the coutnry's major award schemes, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards or 3Music Awards.
The organisers say the EMAs were established due to a "commitment to promote greater participation and assist up-and-coming and emerging musicians doing their best to be part of A-list artists in the country". The awards also provide undiscovered artists with a platform to perform alongside established musicians.
“The EMAs look to bring together the best and most talented emerging artists into the limelight. The event will harmonise the industry’s most prominent entertainers from across the country and reorganises their accomplishment in the entertainment industry,” the organisers said.
Musicians will be awarded in 33 categories including Emerging Artist of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, International Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
The winners will be determined by a six-member jury comprising EMA board chairperson Bismark Boachie (DJ Premier), broadcasters Dr Cann, Nana Romeo and Afia Papabi, artist manager and label boss Dan Lartey, and showbiz pundit and Zionite Group CEO Abdulai Sakra, together with an academy of Ghanaian entertainment gatekeepers and general-public votes.
Previous EMA winners include singers Ewurama Police and Efe Keyz as well as producer and sound engineer DatBeatGod.
