Call for applications: Concerts SA Digital Mobility Fund 2020
Concerts SA is calling on South African artists to apply for its 2020 Digital Mobility Fund.
Concerts SA has supported various musicians to tour the southern African region, offering support for transport, accommodation and artist fees, among others. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s programme is different to past call-outs: the call is intended for local artists who want to present a professional, high-quality live-streamed or delayed broadcast performance.
Interested artists should apply here (without an audience) and here (with a live audience).
The application deadline is 2 October at 5pm. Artists who apply for a live-streamed concert without an audience and a live concert with an audience will get R15 000 and R25 000, respectively.
Requirements
- Applicants are required to create a profile on the Music In Africa website. A Music In Africa profile allows music professionals to add a concise professional biography, including pictures, videos, music and other career highlights. This is important for the independent adjudication panel to fully understand the professional profile of the applicant.
- Proposed projects should take place between 15 October and 15 December.
- Concerts SA cannot cover the full costs of any production, so plans or evidence of income from ticket sales, partnerships and any other additional support would improve chances of success.
- Artists must carefully consider the ownership and management of their music rights in their dealings with streaming platforms.
- Concerts SA will not take any responsibility for the health and safety of the musicians or audiences at the venues. Evidence of health and safety protocols for the events are essential.
In line with the above criteria, and the need for social distancing, Concerts SA cannot consider applications for large-scale live events.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must:
- Be established in South Africa.
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project (not an intermediary).
- No double dipping: the project activities will not be eligible for additional Concerts SA funding through its partner network of venues and promoters.
An independent adjudication panel will be responsible for selecting and approving the recipients of these subsidies. Well thought out, detailed proposals with realistic budgets stand the best chance of being selected.
Applications submitted elsewhere and/or through other means (email, fax, post, etc.) will not be considered.
