The Orchard inks deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing
US music distribution company The Orchard on 6 October announced that it had partnered with Sony/ATV Music Publishing to provide publishing services to artists and labels.
The partnership will see Sony/ATV using its global network to manage aspects of song representation and royalty collection. Sony says the deal is one of many ventures under the One Sony initiative, which seeks to expand collaboration among Sony’s network of businesses. The initiative creates new opportunities for Sony Music’s artist across the company's entertainment platforms.
“We are happy to share our extensive music publishing network and expertise with The Orchard in this new venture,” Sony/ATV CEO Jon Platt said.
“The Sony/ATV family believes in the importance of creative development and professional support, so we are uniquely positioned to provide world-class service to more of The Orchard’s talented community of songwriters.”
The Orchard CEO Brad Navin said: “As a leader in artist services, we are pleased to expand our offerings through this partnership with Sony/ATV.
"The Orchard thrives on empowering creators, and now we can build an environment where songwriters have the space to grow roots and take advantage of The Orchard as a true home for artists.”
Also on 6 October, The Orchard announced that it had partnered with London-based record company Ignition Records and its associated labels Big Brother Recordings and Sour Mash Records. Ignition's debut release with The Orchard will be a special vinyl reissue of Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory, which is one of the biggest selling albums of all time.
