After going past the hordes of would-be singers who entered for the show, some of whom made it for the show proper and were eliminated as the weeks rushed past, Jeffery Akoh was named winner of the 2015 edition of the Project Fame West Africa. A holder of a degree from the SAE Institute in Cape Town, South Africa, Akoh beat the competition to be announced overall winner.
The win puts him in elite company as singers Iyanya and Chidinma of ‘Kukere’ and ‘Kedike’ fame were both discovered by the show, and at the season-end of their respective campaigns underwent coronation. The show has had a fair number of artists who never became quite as popular outside of the campaign. Viewers would be looking to see what path Akoh’s career follows.
Before the question of celebrity, however, the 18-year old has received the show’s grand prize: 5 million naira ($25,000), a recording contract and an SUV.
Pearl Olanma Awa-Agwu, first runner-up, received a car and 3 million naira ($15,000).
The show’s third place winner Anderson Emmanuel Amos received a car and 1 million naira ($5,000). The same amount of money without the car went to fourth placed Adanoritsewo Tosanwumi.
